Why do products say: "Manufacturer - DSA" or "DSA responsible in the EU"?

From 17 February 2024, the Digital Services Act (DSA) will come into force within the European Union. This new legislation aims to make digital platforms, online shops and marketplaces more transparent and accountable, with the goal of a safer online environment for consumers.

What is the Digital Services Act (DSA)?

The Digital Services Act is European legislation that regulates online services, such as:

• • Transparency about the origin of products.
  • Protecting consumers from illegal or misleading products.
  • Responsibility of platforms (such as web shops) to display reliable information about the parties behind the products on offer.

In other words, as a consumer, you should be able to see who the manufacturer is or who is the responsible party in the EU for a particular product.

Why are you seeing this information on KOPAT.nl?

KOPAT.nl complies with the obligations of the DSA. Therefore, we display additional information with the products, such as:

• • Manufacturer - DSA: The official manufacturer of the product, as specified by the supplier.
  • DSA responsible in the EU: If the product comes from outside the EU, we show who is responsible for compliance within the EU (e.g. an importer or representative).

This helps you as a customer to know who the product comes from and who is the point of contact within the EU, should there be anything wrong with the product.
